'Foxy' party for the boy
After a few years of just wanting car birthday cakes, my son finally gave me a theme I could get to grips with! Now completely obsessed with foxes (as well as cars!), I managed to create a look that included foxes galore and a cool, woodland vibe that will appeal to all nature lovers.
Starting the process...
Starting with the fox illustration for his invitations, I designed all the elements for the bunting, placemats and party bag stickers so that everything was coordinated.
Once I had all the paper goods sorted, it was time for the cake! I love making cakes and this one was fun - the bottom was made of four layers of my usual dark chocolate cake and each layer sandwiched with salted caramel buttercream with crushed honeycomb in between. The decoration for the tree bark on the outside was melted dark chocolate rolled up so it hardened into shards and then I chucked cocoa powder and melted chocolate at it to finish the effect. SO DELICIOUS! I can honestly say this is one of the best tasting cakes I've ever made.
